Grosperrin Lot 25 Grande Champagne 42,1%
t is a cognac with mysterious origins, which was not originally intended to be bottled. This cognac comes from a single 400-litre cask, which has been in our stocks for many years. It has probably undergone some blending with cognacs of the same age as it, as it sometimes happens with some of our casks that are not vintages, nor cognacs intended to be part of our collection. This cognac is therefore not a "single estate", but it is a unique cask, and it was during an inventory in 2015 that we became aware of its exceptional quality, as if a fairy had suddenly taken care of its fate. Since then, this cask has been followed very carefully, as we do for all the cognacs that are to be presented to you. In 2019, having the choice between transferring it to canisters or bottling it, we have chosen to bottle it.
Tasting notes :
An almost black, very dark colour, showing a very long time spent in the barrel. Medium amount, dense, nose of very old Cognac, old Madeira, old Balsamic. However, emerging notes of blackcurrant buds, exotic fruits (passion). The signature of a beautiful Grande Champagne is there, in this successful tension between thick notes and elegant notes, which would be contradictory in another cru.round and creamy mouth. A pronounced rancio and evolved tannins support the whole. Very dense, rich, slightly watery finish, before the elegant notes of a very old Grande Champagne. Very rare.
